Recruitment of patients with idiopathic and different forms of monogenic PD, as well as healthy controls, took place at the Institute of Neurogenetics at the University of Lübeck (UL) and the Department of Neurology at the University College London (UCL). Large-scale blood based targeted metabolomics analyses of 304 metabolites covering acylcarnitines, amines, organic acids, lipids and signaling lipids were performed in 140 idiopathic and 19 monogenic PD patients and 64 controls.
